Press Conference at 11 am on September 29, 2009 at the Hofburg in Vienna


Vienna (pts012/21.09.2009/11:00) Constantly increasing life-spans pose new challenges for politics and society in Europe. The task above all is to improve the quality of life of older people through adequate technologies and services. Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is a European research and development program featuring inter-disciplinary measures. The first AAL FORUM '09 Vienna from September 29 to October 1 will be the first of a series of international events.

Organiser:
AAL FORUM '09 is being organised by the AAL-Association based in Brussels together with the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit). It is also the project partner for AAL's programs in Austria.

The official opening of AAL FORUM will follow the press conference. Key-note addresses will be provided, among others, by Bernd Marin, General Director of the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research in Vienna, Jeroen Wals, the Vice President of Philips Research in the Netherlands and Holly Jimison, a Professor at Oregon Health & Science University in the USA. English will be the conference language.
