conwert Immobilien Invest SE: conwert acquisition bolsters core German residential portfolio

conwert Immobilien Invest SE (conwert), traded on the Austrian ATX, has purchased a residential property portfolio in Germany. The purchase price is approximately EUR 46 mn. The acquisition underlines conwert's strategy of focusing on its core markets in the residential segment in Germany and Austria. "The acquisition marks another step in our strategy of investing in markets where we see growth potential. In 2015 we made major progress in selling our non-core properties. Now we can once again afford attractive acquisitions", said Wolfgang Beck, conwert CEO.
The portfolio with 1,029 residential units is located in Duisburg in the city quarter of Mittelmeiderich, which has stronger household growth than the average for the Greater Duisburg area due to its strategic location, for example the fast links to Düsseldorf. The growth in households and falling vacancy rates have led conwert to consider Mittelmeiderich as an area with good growth potential which will fit in well to the existing core portfolio of conwert in Germany. The vacancy rate is around 2%.
This acquisition will lead to an increase in the conwert core residential portfolio of around 5% to 22,500 units, with the Group's entire portfolio rising to around 28,500 units.
Closing of the transaction and the full-scale integration of the newly acquired properties should take place in the third quarter of 2016.
