Erste Group Bank AG: Bernhard Spalt to succeed Andreas Treichl as Chief Executive Officer from January 2020

Vienna (pta030/13.09.2018/14:20 UTC+2) Erste Group Bank AG (Erste Group) announces that Andreas Treichl (66) will step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer of Erste Group at the end of 2019 and that today the Supervisory Board has appointed Bernhard Spalt to succeed him. Bernhard Spalt (50) has worked with Erste Group for more than 25 years and has served in numerous board-level positions on subsidiary and holding company level, ensuring strategic continuity. He currently serves as Chief Risk Officer at Erste Group's Austrian subsidiary Erste Bank Oesterreich.

Bernhard Spalt will step down from all other mandates before becoming Erste Group's Deputy CEO to Andreas Treichl, which is expected mid-2019.

Following his tenure as CEO, Andreas Treichl will become Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the ERSTE Foundation, Erste Group's largest shareholder.
