With its strong technologies, innovative capability, and systematic internationalisation, Frequentis has secured pole position on the world market. Solutions from this Austrian-based high-tech group of companies are used around the world by air traffic controllers, emergency services, railways, and shipping companies.

In 2022, Frequentis is celebrating its 75th anniversary. From its origins as a small company – what would be called a start-up today – founded by two ambitious engineers in post-war Vienna, it grew first into a medium-sized company and eventually into a successful global group of companies.

Frequentis’ rapid rise to market leadership began in the early 1980s when it was taken over by the present Chairman of the Supervisory Board and majority shareholder Hannes Bardach. Back then, Frequentis had 36 employees and generated revenue of EUR 4 million (currently around 2,100°employees; based on preliminary figures, revenue was over EUR 330 million in 2021). The company's key success factors were its specialisation in air traffic control and carefully planned divergence beyond Austria.

At the start of the new millennium, the company made two important strategic decisions: to expand into new, international markets and to broaden its product portfolio. In addition to commercial and military air traffic control, it decided to commercialise safety-critical applications for railways, shipping, and public safety – the police, fire brigade, and emergency rescue services.

The successful IPO in May 2019 was an important step to secure Frequentis’ long-term future as a listed family-run company.

A distinctive culture with a safety-critical focus plays a key role in the success of the Frequentis team. 75 years of experience with projects in safety-critical environments have resulted in extensive expertise and a deep understanding of customers’ needs. Frequentis intends to continue to use this knowledge on the world’s markets in the future – wherever the mission is to protect people and property.

"On behalf of Frequentis’ Executive Board, I would like to thank our customers and business partners for supporting our successful development, and the employees of the Frequentis Group for their part in shaping our success," says Norbert Haslacher, Chairman of Frequentis’ Executive Board.
