Rosenbauer International AG: Rosenbauer Karlsruhe opens new "Welcome Center"
Karlsruhe (pta027/11.06.2024/15:00 UTC+2)
- 1.2 million euro investment in new delivery hall and administration building
- Ten-metre-high hall for vehicle handovers, training and courses on up to four lanes simultaneously, regardless of weather conditions
- State-of-the-art training center and office space based on "new work" concepts
After two and a half years of construction, the new "Welcome Center" of Rosenbauer Karlsruhe was officially opened today. The modern building, including the delivery hall, is used for vehicle handovers, training sessions and demonstrations of turntable ladders and aerial rescue platforms, and also contains a training center and offices. Following the construction of the new digitalized production plant for aerial rescue devices including the robot-assisted production of ladder sets (investment sum of 4.2 million euros, opening in 2020) and the investment in a highly innovative paint shop powered by district heating (1.2 million, commissioning in 2017), the construction of the new "Welcome Center" represents another large-scale investment by Rosenbauer in the Karlsruhe location within just a few years.
Strong commitment to the Karlsruhe location
"With a share of around 14% of Group revenues, high-quality aerial rescue vehicles are a strategically important segment for our company. Demand is high. In Germany only, we were able to win orders for exactly 100 new vehicles in 2023," says Sebastian Wolf, CEO of Rosenbauer International, 'With this investment, we are further enhancing Karlsruhe as a competence center for aerial rescue vehicles and are clearly committed to this location with its hundred-year history.'
Michael Kristeller, Managing Director of Rosenbauer Karlsruhe: "As the world market leader, we stand for products and vehicles of the highest quality and state-of-the-art technology. With the new 'Welcome Center', we have created a modern infrastructure that fulfills this customer promise in vehicle handovers, training and courses and elevating them to a new level."
In the new, ten-meter-high delivery hall, several vehicles can be demonstrated at the same time, regardless of the weather. "Here we can show what our vehicles can do in a suitable environment - in dry conditions, at pleasant temperatures and on up to four lanes at the same time," says host Kristeller. The "Welcome Center" also brings together all departments that are in contact with customers from all over the world: Development and Design, Purchasing, Sales, Sales Support, Helpdesk, Service Center and the modern training center with three separate training rooms, which can also be combined if required.
"new work" concepts promote communication
The new Welcome Center was built on the site of the old administration building at Carl-Metz-Strasse 9, which was demolished to make way for the new building. The offices previously housed there were placed on top of the delivery hall and offer attractive working conditions. "We need the best employees to develop and build the best aerial rescue vehicles. And we have also created the best working conditions for them," explains Michael Kristeller. The premises, planned and implemented according to "new work" concepts, offer many meeting zones that promote communication and ensure a pleasant working atmosphere. Among other things, there are work cafés, communication islands, a roof garden and even a picnic area.
Sustainable energy supply
The new "Welcome Center" building was constructed in a modern, robust and energy-saving design, as it is intended to represent Rosenbauer's promise of quality in structural form; no frills, but functional, practical and state-of-the-art. Heating is provided by a district heating connection, and a large part of the electricity requirement can be covered by the 71 kWP photovoltaic system on the roof. This means that no fossil fuels are required for ongoing operation.
High-tech made in Germany
Following the takeover of Metz by Rosenbauer in 1998, the Karlsruhe site focused on high-tech aerial rescue devices and has been setting benchmarks in this area ever since. The fully automatic hydraulic turntable ladders and aerial rescue platforms with a rescue height of up to 64 meters are developed, produced and sold worldwide from here. The Rosenbauer Group employs around 500 highly trained employees at the site. Every year, around 200 new high-tech turntable ladders and aerial rescue platforms are produced and delivered to customers all over the world.
