Montana Aerospace: enters profit phase in 2024 post major investment program in Aerostructures
Successful growth trajectory and first positive net income since IPO in 2021

Montana Aerospace continues its successful growth trajectory in 2024 with net sales of EUR 1,493.7 million, an increase of more than 17%. The leading global manufacturer of complex components and structures for the aerospace industry benefited from growth in both its Aerostructures and Energy segments. Achieving the first positive net profit of EUR 35.8 million and free cash flow is a significant milestone since the company's IPO in 2021.
Kai Arndt, Co-CEO of Montana Aerospace, says: "Our success in 2024 underlines the strength and stability of Montana Aerospace. We are proud to not only continue to grow in a challenging market environment, but to report the first positive net income since the IPO in 2021."
Michael Pistauer, Co-CEO and CFO of Montana Aerospace, adds: "Reporting positive net income for the first time since the IPO is the result of the successful implementation of our long-term growth strategy. It is particularly pleasing that we were able to significantly reduce our net debt, giving us better financial flexibility for the future."
Successful performance in the Aerostructures and Energy segments
The Aerostructures segment achieved sales growth of around 16% and net sales of EUR 815.6 million in 2024. Despite challenges related to Boeing and Airbus, Montana Aerospace was able to gain further market share, benefiting from higher utilization of its invested assets and its one-stop-shop concept. Long-term investments in state-of-the-art production facilities, such as those in Romania and Vietnam, have positioned Montana Aerospace as a strategic partner for the largest OEMs and Tier 1 companies in the aerospace industry.
Airbus and Boeing, with a current combined global aircraft fleet of around 26,000 aircraft, forecast demand for around 44,000 new aircraft over the next 20 years.
OEMs face the challenge of ramping up production despite ongoing supply chain issues. In the coming years, their focus will be on stabilizing and streamlining their network. As a result, they are increasingly turning to partners like Montana Aerospace to provide a seamless supply: from raw materials to ready-to-install components.
"With projected growth rates, the aerospace industry is one of the fastest growing sectors overall. With our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and strong operational structure, we are well positioned to benefit from the expected upturn in civil aviation," says Kai Arndt.
In the Energy segment, the company benefited from the global energy transition and large-scale infrastructure investments - sales increased by around 13% with net sales of EUR 642.6 million. A long-term contract concluded in 2024 with Siemens Energy for the supply of copper cores for high-voltage transformers also strengthens the company's market position here. This collaboration reflects the industry's increasing focus on securing reliable supply chains through long-term contracts and provides the Energy segment with high visibility for future growth, while the state-of-the-art production facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and China, which are currently being operationalized, will also play an important role.
Focus on the Aerostructures segment
A strategically important step for Montana Aerospace was the successful divestment of the e-mobility segment, Alu Menziken, in 2024 to the Mengtai Group – a decision in line with the corporate strategy to increase focus on the aerospace industry and move closer to being a pure-play aerostructures company.
By entering the commercial space market in 2023, Montana Aerospace has laid a decisive foundation for further growth. The increasing demand for innovative solutions and reliable suppliers opens up further opportunities in this sector. The space industry is estimated to be worth 1.8 trillion dollars by 2035 with an average growth rate of 8%.
Successful reduction of emissions and energy consumption
In 2024, Montana Aerospace intensified its ESG efforts and was able to reduce market-based emissions by 45% and non-renewable energy consumption by 37%. The company remains committed to its ESG strategy introduced in 2022, which focuses on sustainable development and effective risk management.
Strong growth since 2019 – expected to continue in 2025
Montana Aerospace's growth from 2019–2024 is particularly noteworthy "Despite the obstacles the OEM's have faced in reaching pre-pandemic levels, Montana Aerospace has almost doubled its sales in 2024 compared to 2019," says Michael Pistauer.
Montana Aerospace is currently optimistic about 2025 and expects net sales of more than EUR 1.6 billion with an adjusted EBITDA of over EUR 200 million. In 2025, the positive net profit should also be further expanded, with Montana Aerospace continuing to operate as an aerospace-focused company.
