From August 21st to 25th, visitors to the SWISSARTEXPO 2024 at the SBB Event Hall in Zurich's Main Station will be captivated by the expressive artworks of Marcelo De Stefano, an Italian/American painter known for his vibrant and emotionally charged paintings.
De Stefano's journey in the world of art began at an early age. He learned color theory as a child and started painting at a young age. He studied at a technical school and graduated as an Architect in Argentina. Later, he obtained a Master of Architecture in Spain and a Doctor of Education from the prestigious Columbia University in New York. All his perspectives now come together in a personal way of facing paintings with a preference for the expressive potential of color, after other international stays at the famous Parsons School of Design and The Art Students League in New York, and his Fullbright and MAEC-AECI scholarships.
Marcelo De Stefano's current body of work is a mesmerizing fusion of abstract expressionism and impressionism, characterized by a dynamic interplay of colors and textures. His paintings are more than just visual experiences; they are emotional journeys that invite viewers to explore the depths of their own feelings and thoughts. One of the highlights of De Stefano's career came in July 2023, when he presented 33 works on the theme of "painting diversity" in the space of Casa de Vacas Cultural Center, and another 11 in retrospective in his solo exhibition to celebrate pride month and the LGBTQ+ community. "In this case, I preferred to go towards something very abstract. In general, the figurative is not interesting to me, because I like to discover a work as I paint it and as I see it. The same thing happens to me with writing," De Stefano explains.
