Auf drei Ebenen
behandelt dieses:
- die ökonomisch-politische Entwicklung der DDR
zwischen 1960 und 1990
- die elemantare Ebene der Stasi-Verbindung zur westdeutschen Industrie (deren Bemühung um verstärkten Westexport und den Osthandel bundesdeutscher Konzerne)
- die politisch-finanzielle Bemühung der westlichen Politik, die DDR aus COMECON und RGW herauszubrechen (Strauß-Kredit, Schalck, Andropow, Olschowski, Honecker, Jenninger, Kohl und Schäuble).
Es zeigt sich, dass der Kommunismus einer Dreizack-Strategie des Westens erlag, welche sich aus strategischer Überrüstung (Reagan), ökonomischer Indienstnahme (Osthandel der westdeutschen Industrie/VOLKSWAGEN-PLAN) und politisch-finanzieller Abhängigkeit zusammensetzte.
Die inneren Unzulänglichkeiten der DDR bestanden nicht zuletzt in der ungenügenden Arbeitsleistung der ostdeutschen Arbeiterschaft. Hier gilt es Mythen zu überwinden.
Die Quelle dieses Buches bilden vor allem erstmals ausgewertete Industrieakten des Ministeriums für Staatssicherheit (Bestände des DDR-Staates im Bundesarchiv Berlin, der Chemieindustrie der DDR, private Tagebücher und Geschäftsakten) die sich als zentrale Quelle von hohem Aussagewert erweisen.

Bernd F. Schulte, the wellknown Hamburg historian and pupil of the famous Fritz Fischer (Riezler Diaries, German Army, Outbreak of the First World War, international system, 1871-1914, German Historians and the IIIrd Reich) edits
his new book, dealing with the last battle of communism in Europe.
In three steps the economic-political development of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), in between 1960 and 1990, becomes analysed and it's links with Westgerman industrial trusts and the GDR, the political and financial
efforts, in order to weaken cohesion of COMECON and GDR, do get unveiled.
It is shown that communism has been fought by a triple strategy of western powers, such as the strategic attemps to win the arms race, to lay hands upon East German finance - by means of the exchange of goods (the "VOLKSWAGEN-PLAN" - to make the GDR part of western industrial system) and to borrow money in large scale, following the object of ruining Eastgerman finance. It is shown, how close the links in between Westgerman capitalism and Eastgerman communistic
system had developped; even at the basis of day to day intercorse (Alpha-project, the Mosel-plant, VW-Golf engines in Trabant and Wartburg-cars etc.).
Even the myth of the busy German worker, east of the river Elbe, gets demolished.
The sources, this book has been built upon, are derived from the archives of the East German Intelligence Service (MfS), the economic archive of the chemical industry of the GDR, it's State documents nowadays in the Bundesarchiv Berlin
(KoKo-department of Schalck Golodkowski), private papers, diaries and drafts).
