iQ Power Licensing AG: Further Progress achieved in Korean battery factory of iQ Power Asia

iQ Power Licensing AG (ISIN: CH0268536338; WKN/Security Number: A14M1C; Symbol: IQL), a developer and marketer of technologies for environmentally friendly and technologically innovative starter batteries for motor vehicles and licenses in these technologies, reports the following status on iQ Power Asia:

iQ Power Asia announces the successful assembly of the new generation iQP-2 mixing devices of iQ Power parts in the Korean facility. The iQP-2 parts have been in use in the Discover Energy supplier factory in Bangladesh since Q1 2013. The first shipment of 37.000 battery sets arrived at the factory on Monday and the first parts were used in the battery assembly on Tuesday.

Steffen Tschirch, inventor and chief engineer for the iQP-2 parts was on hand to oversee the beginning of the assembly. Thanks to the extremely easy assembly process of the IQP-2 parts, the local staff was able to start production without any deeper instructions from iQ Power technical staff. Local plant staff and Mr. Tschirch were able to quickly implement all necessary quality and safety procedures.

Mr. Tschirch will also oversee the start of testing using the German built motion simulator. This simulator meets all European OEM standards and will allow iQ Power to have comparable data on the benefits of the mixing technology in both Germany and Korea.

On Monday the plant received a visit from the Discover Energy customer in Australia, Enirgi Metal Group. The company is not only a major recycler of used batteries but also has an extensive distribution network for battery sales including 6 battery retail outlets. iQ Power management discussed the possibility of establishing an environmentally friendly "closed loop" supply system, in which iQ Power delivers new batteries to Enirgi Metal, who then collecsts used batteries from customers and recycles into lead that will be sent back to iQ Power Asia for battery manufacture.

A major long-term target market is the commercial vehicle fleet truck market. Australia is a vast country without a large rail system. Therefore the country relies on a huge number of trucks, which log up to 2 million miles per year and wear out batteries in less than 12 months.

Bob Sullivan, CEO of iQ Power Licensing AG and interim CEO of iQ Power Asia, welcomed greatly the chance to work with Enirgi Metal in both the OEM and Aftermarket in Australia.

Batteries with iQ Power technology are designed to generate better performance in Start-Stop applications and to meet the growing demands of electronic usage in vehicles today. Electrolyte mixing is the first significant innovation to the flooded starter battery in decades. Automatic mixing of electrolyte inside the battery ensures uniform acid density for higher sustained performance throughout the entire life of the battery. This prolongs plate life by eliminating acid stratification and thermal gradients, delivering greater material utilization for a lower cost per cycle over conventional batteries.
