Vienna (pta008/11.05.2020/07:30 UTC+2) * Order by the Spanish air navigation service provider for a contingency voice communication system
* Installation at nine country-wide locations
* Nationwide networked infrastructure ensures continuation of operations in the event of air traffic control incidents

The Spanish air navigation service provider ENAIRE is one of the largest air navigation service providers in Europe. ENAIRE manages a total of 2.2 million km^2 of airspace, which covers Spain and the Western Sahara including the Canary Islands.

The high-performance voice communication solution that Frequentis will provide, is based on the Frequentis Voice-over-IP (VoIP) product VCS 3020X, which is already in use in many area control centres and towers in Europe and around the world and has proven its performance and reliability many times over.

"The Spanish market is of major strategic importance for Frequentis," said Norbert Haslacher, CEO Frequentis AG. "We are proud to have been selected by ENAIRE as the supplier of this complete solution for the efficient, high-quality, and sustainable provision of air traffic control services. We look forward to a successful and long-term business relationship with ENAIRE".

The new solution will be used as a contingency system for the existing air traffic control system. It will ensure that ENAIRE's services are maintained even under full load. The reliable and resilient backup solution ensures end-to-end air traffic control services, even in the event of a network failure and the associated disruption. The modernised infrastructure enables emergency operations, as the voice communication services can be continued from different locations.

One of the first projects in the cooperation between Frequentis and ENAIRE was the modernisation of the air traffic control data network (REDAN). Frequentis was commissioned to provide communication gateways and integrate existing voice communication services.

The project will start with the first system deliveries during 2020, and Frequentis can also count on the support of local partners in Spain. These will enable fast deliveries and local provision of services for ENAIRE throughout the entire programme period.
