Pierer Industrie AG: Strong performance also in 2022

Continued strong revenues and earnings performance in 2022 financial year
In 2022, the Pierer Industrie Group, the industrial group of Stefan Pierer, achieved another record result. Despite major challenges in the global supply chains, Pierer Industrie AG increased its revenues by almost 20% and thus achieved record revenues of € 3,264.2 million.
Pierer Industrie recorded significant revenues increases in both the two-wheeler group (PIERER Mobility AG) and the automotive group (Pankl AG). The listed PIERER Mobility AG increased its revenues in the 2022 financial year by 19.4% to a new record of € 2,437.2 million. Pankl AG also increased revenues by +18% to € 836.5 million in the past year and thus achieved record revenues.
The result from operating activities (EBIT) of € 269.4 million improved by 22.1% (previous year: € 220.7 million), corresponding to an EBIT margin of 8.3%. The operating result before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of € 482.5 million was about 14% higher than the previous year's figure of € 423.6 million, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 14.8%.
Employees
As of December 31, 2022, the Pierer Industrie-Group employed a total of 10,917 employees; 6,088 of them in the PIERER Mobility-Group and 4,306 in the Pankl AG-Group. Around 1,500 employees, or 14% of the total workforce, work in the area of research & development. In 2022, the proportion of female employees was around 26.1%. As of the reporting date, there were around 420 apprentices undergoing training in more than 20 vocational training programs. The number of female apprentices has also grown steadily. This intensive apprenticeship training is an essential backbone in skilled worker development.
Investments
In the 2022 financial year, € 389.4 million was investedin further growth (previous year: € 283.1 million). In addition to investments in property, plant and equipment of around € 202 million, about € 161 million was invested in product development, especially in the two-wheeler segment. About 72% of total investments were made in Austria.
Premature extension of the Executive Board mandate of Friedrich Roithner (CFO)
The Executive Board mandate of Friedrich Roithner is being extended prematurely. Friedrich Roithner is appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Pierer Industrie Group for a further term of five years, i.e. from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2028. Furthermore, Mr. Roithner moved from the Executive Board to the Supervisory Board of the two-wheeler group at the end of the 26th Annual General Meeting of PIERER Mobility AG.
