- Convincing performance in Sochi brings follow-up order for luxury hotel in Krasnaya Polyana
The 2014 Olympic Games project "Gornaya Karusel" in Sochi, Russia, will be covered by a clay roof from TONDACH Gleinstätten, the leading producer of clay roof solutions in Central and Southeastern Europe. Last year TONDACH was awarded one of the largest contracts in its history: the construction of the roof for the Gornaya Karusel. The first delivery of roof tiles and accessories has now been shipped on schedule to Russia.
160,000 m2 of roof areas for Olympic project
The "Gornaya Karusel" is a sport and tourism complex that will also house the Olympic media village. The building is scheduled for completion in 2013 and has roughly 160,000 m2 of roof areas, which will be covered with various roof tiles and accessories including ventilators, ridges and snow guard systems, etc. made by TONDACH Gleinstätten. The main roof areas will be covered with "VENUS RV3", a clay roof tile that was developed especially for this project by TONDACH. This roof tile was specifically adapted to the needs and requirements of the Russian architects, the general contractor as well as the local roofers.
Projects underpins the strength and innovative power of TONDACH Gleinstätten
"Winning a major international tender for a project like Sochi underscores the strength and innovative power of TONDACH Gleinstätten. I also see this as confirmation of last year's decision to increase our investment in TONDACH to 50%", commented Heimo Scheuch, Chief Executive Officer of Wienerberger AG. "Projects like Sochi are an excellent example of our strategic focus on innovation leadership and our positioning as a provider of system solutions, which are found in all segments of the Wienerberger Group", added Scheuch.
New TONDACH® roof for luxury hotel
Preparations for the Olympic Games in 2014 will include the renovation of existing buildings in the Sochi region - and TONDACH has also been successful in these projects. The 6,500 m2 roof of the luxury hotel PEAK in Krasnaya Polyana will be renovated and covered with red, engobed beaver roof tiles. Safety and protection with double coverage as well as a traditional appearance were the convincing points for the customer. "This not only represents a further project for us in the region, but also a strong vote of confidence- and, above all, an opportunity to demonstrate our roofing solution expertise in an international setting", indicated Martin Olbrich, Managing Director of TONDACH Gleinstätten.
