Frequentis AG: Contract for the city fire brigades in Bochum and Herne strengthens market position in public safety

Vienna / Langen (pta034/23.09.2020/14:30 UTC+2) * Frequentis has secured an order to equip control centres for the fire brigades in the German cities of Bochum and Herne in an EU-wide tender process
* Fully redundant ASGARD voice-over-IP (VoIP)-based communication system for professional communication management at control centres using Germany's public safety digital radio network (BOS)
* ASGARD product line already used in more than 35 control centres in Germany

"Frequentis' ASGARD product line, which is specifically designed for use in fire brigade and industrial control centres in Germany, is a flexible and highly reliable software solution for safety-critical control centres. ASGARD therefore reinforces our strong position in the German public safety market," says Frequentis' CEO Norbert Haslacher.

Frequentis has secured this contract under an EU-wide tender to harmonise the systems used by the Bochum and Herne fire brigade control centres as part of a collaboration project between the two cities, with ASGARD being used as the communication system for the geo-redundant control centres of both cities' professional fire brigades. As prime contractor, Frequentis Germany will be responsible for delivery, integration and servicing of the system.

The control centres operated by the cities of Bochum and Herne in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia provide communication services - handling emergency calls, alerting the emergency services, coordinating their deployment and dispatching ambulances. The present project is an important step in the technical realisation of the partnership agreed by the two cities' fire brigades last year.

The aim of harmonising the control centre technology is to enable each control centre to take over from the other (redundancy), for example in the event of evacuation or a need for additional capacity and to enable personnel from each city to support the other in the event of a major incident. Harmonised training in use of the new technology should leverage synergies and enhance flexibility during major incidents. In addition, both control centres will have the necessary equipment and data to deal with system outage scenarios. Using this state-of-the-art control centre technology, it is possible to provide the general public with help faster and more effectively.

Frequentis' tried-and-tested software solution - the ASGARD communication system is already in use at over 35 control centres in Germany - provides high flexibility and reliability, as well as multiple options for integration into infrastructure, ensuring professional communication management for these tasks.
