iQ Power Licensing AG: iQ Power Asia expands product portfolio by two new JIS type battery sizes

iQ Power Licensing AG (ISIN: CH0268536338; WKN/Security Number: A14M1C; Symbol: IQL) a developer and marketer of technologies for environmentally friendly and technologically innovative starter batteries for motor vehicles and licenses in these technologies, announces the start of production of two new battery sizes, known as N40 and N60 at the South Korean plant of iQ Power Asia.

These two battery types are two widely sold battery sizes for Japanese and Korean sub-compact vehicles. The product introduction required many new tools and many adjustments to the production line. After about 2 weeks of testing and adjustment in all areas, the production is now running smoothly.

The product line is important because it rounds out the typical product line-up expected for battery customers in countries where Japanese and Korean cars dominate the market. Therefore, their inclusion in the product program will greatly aid sales around the world.

In another two weeks, three further models will be added, which are important for the North American and European markets. By year's end the product program will be expanded from 9 to 17 models.

Batteries with iQ Power technology are designed to generate better performance in Start-Stop applications and to meet the growing demands of electronic usage in vehicles today. Electrolyte mixing is the first significant innovation to the flooded starter battery in decades. Automatic mixing of electrolyte inside the battery ensures uniform acid density for higher sustained performance throughout the entire life of the battery. This prolongs plate life by eliminating acid stratification and thermal gradients, delivering greater material utilization for a lower cost per cycle over conventional batteries. The patented technology was awarded the coveted Automechanika innovation award 1st prize in 2010.
