Erste Group Bank: Willibald Cernko appointed as new Chief Risk Officer

Vienna (pta047/15.09.2016/17:10 UTC+2) The supervisory board of Erste Group appointed Willibald Cernko as new CRO as of 1 January 2017. He succeeds Andreas Gottschling, who will resign from the management board at the end of this year. Andreas Gottschling, who has served as CRO since 2013, decided not to pursue the prolongation of his contract beyond June 2017 in order to be closer to his Switzerland-based family.

Willibald Cernko (60) worked until February 2016 as CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria AG and before that he had worked in many different management functions at Bank Austria, HypoVereinsbank and the UniCredit Group over the course of more than 20 years. His contract runs until the end of 2020.

At the supervisory board meeting, the existing contracts of Peter Bosek (Retail), Petr Brávek (COO), Gernot Mittendorfer (CFO) and Jozef Síkela (Corporates and Markets) were extended until 31 December 2020. Their contracts would originally have expired during the course of 2017. Andreas Treichl's contract runs until the end of June 2020.
