Von Mühlenen continues their success at the World Cheese Award 2007
World Champion of 1992, 2002, 2005 and 2006 receives 8 awards
Düdingen (pts020/20.03.2007/11:35) Von Mühlenen, the World Champion cheese manufacturer, having won overall World titles in 1992, 2002, 2005, 2006, continues their success at the World Cheese Awards 2007 hosted at the International Food Exhibition London, again triumphed in the Category "Best Le Gruyere AOC". In total, von Mühlenen receives 8 awards at the World Cheese Award 2007.
The World Cheese Awards was held this year at the Bi-annual event, the International Food Exhibition (IFE) London, England. von Mühlenen participated with several cheeses produced from different dairies, and won 8 awards for their Gruyère and Emmental. Naturally delighted to have won the "Best Le Gruyère AOC" which von Mühlenen always aspires to win, continually pushing the boundaries, they entered for the first time an Organic Gruyère which won a certificate.

- Le Gruyère Premier Cru from the Niedermuhren Dairy
Gold certificates have received:
- Le Gruyère Premier Cru from the Lanthen dairy
- Le Gruyère Premier Cru from the Niedermuhren dairy
- Le Gruyère Classic from the Niedermuhren dairy
Bronze certificates have received:
- Le Gruyère Classic from the Lanthen dairy
- Emmentaler Premier Cru from the Mutten dairy
- Emmentaler Premier Cru from the Rüderswil dairy
- Le Gruyere Organic Classic from the Cremo Dairy "le Moulin"
The success at the World Cheese Awards 2007, underlines the excellent quality of all cheeses produced by von Mühlenen which enabled them to win in total 8 different World-Champion titles.
Emmental Premier Cru (4 times World Champion)
- World Champion of all Categories in Madison, Wisconsin 2006
- World Champion of the Swiss Style Category in Madison, Wisconsin 2006, 2004, 1998
Le Gruyère Premier Cru (4 times World Champion)
- World-Champion of "all Categories" at the World Cheese Awards in London 2005, 2002, 1992
- World-Champion of the Smear Ripened Category cheese in Madison, Wisconsin 2006
The Von Mühlenen family created its company and ripening cellars in 1861, and has ever since, been an important player in Swiss cheese making history. Von Mühlenen has through the decades remained a family operation, with modern facilities centrally located near Fribourg in Düdingen, a region famous for its Le Gruyère Fribourg, Emmental Switzerland and Raclette Fribourg.
Cheeses by von Mühlenen are produced exclusively with pure raw milk, using traditional ripening methods dating back some 140 years. Primary production is completed by a group of more than 50 dairies, in selected locations throughout Switzerland.
