Berlin (ptp018/07.02.2014/18:40) Invitation: Eastern Europe Expert Discussion on The Euromaidan Revolution of Ukraine: Ways out of the Crisis
February 13th 2014 at 11:00 in the European Commission Representation in Germany, Unter den Linden 78, 10117 Berlin
The political situation in Ukraine after the failure of the Association Agreement with the EU in late November 2013 and after the violent eviction of the Euromaidan heats up more and more. Thousands of people walk daily in Kiev and other cities of Ukraine on the streets to fight for their rights. They demand new elections, a constitutional amendment and the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych. The Ukrainian government is going with as yet unprecedented brutality against the demonstrators. There are numerous deaths and injure, hundreds were convicted and imprisoned, many abducted and tortured. An early relaxation of the situation is not in sight. The pressure of Russia is getting bigger and the EU threatens sanctions. What are the best ways out of the crisis? How can the victims of the revolution be supported? The answers to these and other questions will give our experts during the discussion.
