Rosalba Arcilla - The Swiss artist with Spanish roots brings her artworks to the European art metropolis Barcelona
A diverse selection of her original artworks will be presented as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT
Zurich/Barcelona (ptp016/09.03.2020/11:00) From 18 to 22 March 2020, Rosalba Arcilla, born in 1968, will present a selection of eight artworks in the Valid World Hall art gallery in Barcelona as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Barcelona 1.0.
After her initial artistic studies at the Rome University of Fine Arts in Rome, Rosalba Arcilla attended various art academies in Paris, Rome and Adliswil. Since 2001 she has been working as a freelance artist in her own studio in Switzerland, where she dedicates herself mainly to paintings and mosaics. In 2002 she already celebrated her first successes in her art career - to this day her artworks have been presented at various national and international solo and group exhibitions under different gallery representations.
Rosalba Arcilla sees her work as an interplay between creative spirit, material and craftsmanship. For her, the canvas is a meeting point of the reality of the inner and outer world. She works with various techniques and materials, such as acrylic, pastel, bitumen, wax, ink and walnut stain. Therefore it is no surprise that she loves to experiment and to devote herself to new things. She believes that creativity does not emerge when one seeks it, but rather when the time is ripe. And when inspiration comes, one has to grasp it and go with the flow.
In Barcelona, visitors will find eight testimonies to Rosalba's joy of experimentation. The works of art presented are from three different series: Five of the works are from her NUDE painting series, which deals with the representation of the female body. Nowadays, the word "naked" is usually associated with a feeling of defenselessness and helplessness, even though being naked is the most natural form of human existence. With her nude pictures Arcilla puts the beauty of the female body in the centre of her work, while preserving the desired expression and the intimacy of the moment. She wants to reveal to them how natural, yes, how self-evident it may feel what one sees in her pictures. Two other artworks exhibited in Barcelona - "Rainy Days" and "Urban Contact" - deal with the representation of people in everyday urban life. The last work of art, "Hayle Beach", is a work in wonderfully earthy tones that depicts the beach of the same name in the rugged coastal region of Cornwall in the United Kingdom.
In addition to her artworks, visitors may also view her newly published artist catalogue in Barcelona. On 16 pages, the catalogues presents a variation of eighteen artworks. All art enthusiasts are cordially invited to view her catalogue and her works of art at the Valid World Hall art gallery at the Buenaventura Muñoz 6 in Barcelona, Spain. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 20 p.m. from 18th to 22nd March 2020.
