The artist Silvia Baechler presents her paintings made of acrylic, sand and coffee at SWISSARTEXPO 2020

The artist will present her special three-dimensional works in Zurich main station

Zurich (ptp014/23.07.2020/10:00) The Swiss artist Silvia Baechler will be digitally represented with three of her artworks in the Zurich Main Station Hall during the SWISSARTEXPO from 20 to 24 August 2020. Her newly published artist catalogue will also be available for visitors on site. The SWISSARTEXPO is an art festival that offers talented artists from all over the world the opportunity to present their works in one of the most visited halls in Europe. As part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Zürich 2.0, which will also take place at the SWISSARTEXPO, the artist will furthermore present five of her artworks in their digital form.

Silvia Baechler found her way into art over 20 years ago through classical photography. Her preferred motifs included impressions of nature, portraits, nudes and musical instruments, which she developed into impressive artworks after many hours of tinkering in the darkroom. Over time, her photographs became more blurred and abstract - she increasingly turned away from black and white photography and turned to more colorful methods of development. After several individual and collective exhibitions, her fascination with colour gained the upper hand, and by experimenting with different materials she found her way to painting.

Silvia is fascinated by structures, haptic surfaces and their interaction with colours. As a base she chooses white panels, but often also photographs and photo transfer images on canvas. Through the skillful layering of various materials, such as coffee powder, sand, marble flour, coal, pigments, casein and acrylic paints, relief-like surfaces are created. This gives the works a special depth, which ultimately brings life to them. Her travels around the globe, but especially Morocco, Italy and India influence her artistic work. Colours, smells or scents of these places, they inspire her again and again.

At the SWISSARTEXPO in the SBB Event Halle in Zurich main station, Silvia Baechler will digitally exhibit three of her paintings. The works on canvas are mainly in black and white tones, although the artist has occasionally incorporated strong colours. Using coffee powder and sand, she has created fine, crack-like structures that enrich the paintings with a wealth of detail, inviting the viewer to linger and let this three-dimensional depth take effect. Silvia Baechler's current art catalogue will also be on display to give visitors an even deeper insight into her diverse repertoire.

Furthermore, the artists will present five of her artworks digitally as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Zürich 2.0. This project takes place multiple times a year in various art hotspots all around the world - this August, it will be part of the SWISSARTEXPO 2020 in the heart of Zurich.
